You try to control tomorrow because you want it to go a certain way. Not necessarily for your benefit, but you are doing it to get God’s approval. When you have worries about tomorrow, it’s like saying “God, I would be a better God than you.” Trust that God has a plan and it is the best plan. You know this but it’s the conversations you overthink. You want to say the right thing at the right time so you don’t feel like God will be disappointed that you could’ve done something better. You want to make God proud by performance, but he wants you to enjoy life and to know He loves you with imperfections. You are loved.
Remove or limit the word ‘should’ from your life. The word ‘should’ will cause you to feel shame in places you should not. You are trying to perfect your performance, but he loves you. Amber, He is not asking you to perform or change your personality. No one cares about the demons that are waiting and watching to see you fall. God knows they are there and truthfully, we cannot care they are present more than God does. Hear me. God cares but also God allows them and they are His creations too. God knows you want people to understand His love but not at the cost of your peace.
You do not have to perform or worry about anything. Trust His Holy Spirit to guide you in all conversations and speech. Amber, remember it’s not you. It’s God working through you and you have surrendered to His Spirit so He is proud of you for that! He is proud because of your surrendering. It has nothing to do with you or what you do. Thank God for his goodness and faithfulness. You are where you are supposed to be, and you say what you are supposed to say as long as you stay in submission to God. Believe it. You have the Father’s Love! You don’t need accolades and carnal things of this world. That is not what makes God proud. He knows your biological father only told you he was proud of you when you performed well with many accomplishments. He knows you felt most loved when your parents boasted about your medals. He knows you were acting and putting on a performance though. You do not need to do that with Him. You are His beloved daughter.
“Amber. Hephzibah. I love you for you. I see your beginning to end. Because you love me, I have promised to never rebuke you again. With my unfailing love, I have compassion for you. My daughter Zion, my descendant of David, I love you.” Thus saith the Lord.
